I had the great honour of being a speaker at 2022 TEDx Mandurah conference. My talk was called “How can giant telescopes help humanity?”
I explain about how huge radio telescopes of the present and future are taking us on a voyage of discovery through the cosmos.
I also share the message that astronomy isn’t just for astronomers – it’s for everyone. It can be leveraged to help achieve the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals, and thus to help our daily lives right here on Earth.
One of my main arguments is that space is super interesting to lots of people, so we can use this interest to foster appreciation for the scientific method and critical thinking. In my opinion, this is the key to helping ourselves and our planet. What do you think?
